The POP Score

How much of the possible is actually happening?

Every institution states a commitment to community engagement. The POP score measures whether it is happening, how often, and how deeply. Move the three inputs below to see how the score responds, and where an institution would stand against the national dataset.

Percent of the Possible

One number for a student body's civic life

The POP score stands for Percent of the Possible. It answers a question most institutions have never been able to answer with confidence: of all the community engagement students could be doing, how much is actually taking place? The NASCE measures the rate, the frequency, and the depth of student service across eight areas of human need, then expresses the result as a single institutional percentage, benchmarked against national data going back to 2009.

Depth is where a stated mission becomes lived formation.
